The
usual throngs of tourists at the
capitol mall are turning their heads to view the frenetic activity as a
street of solar houses rises between the capitol and the Washington
Monument. Teams of students are racing to erect solar dream
houses in time for the starting date of October 12, 2007.
The Solar Decathlon was conceived by the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) and its National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), which manages the event. DOE is also the primary sponsor of the event. Below, I am posting a few pictures taken on the morning of Saturday, October 6, 2007.
